Where to Eat in Ebensburg: A Local's Guide

Downtown Ebensburg is compact — a few blocks centered around the intersection of High Street and Center Street, anchored by the Cambria County Courthouse. The restaurant scene matches the scale: a handful of places, most of them run by people who live here. No chains in the historic core. That's part of the charm.

Center Street

Pour on Center (102 S Center St) has become a local favorite. The menu covers a lot of ground — burgers, flatbreads, salads, entrees — and does it well. The specialty cocktail list is a draw, and the atmosphere is warm without being fussy. Friday evenings get busy; that's a good sign.

Clark Powell's Restaurant & Bar (125 S Center St) is a reliable stop for drinks and pub-style food. It's the kind of place where the regulars know the bartender and the menu doesn't try too hard. Good for a casual dinner or a beer after work.

High Street

Everyday Gourmet & Fine Food Merchant (204 W High St) is a small specialty food shop that also serves prepared meals, soups, and sandwiches. The quality punches above what you'd expect for a town this size — they take the food seriously. Worth checking what's on the board that day.

Italian Village Pizza (207 W High St) has been serving Ebensburg for years. Straightforward pizza, subs, and Italian-American staples. Nothing revolutionary, but consistent and reasonably priced. Good for takeout when you don't want to think too hard about dinner.

The Backroom Saloon operates out of the Ebensburg mini mall plaza and focuses on handcrafted meals with better-than-average ingredients. Their burger gets mentioned a lot.

For fine dining, you'll need to drive — Finelli's Italian Villa is the nearest upscale option, and it's worth the trip for a special occasion.

Ebensburg isn't a food destination. What it has are real restaurants run by real people in a real small town. Hours can shift, especially midweek and off-season. Call ahead. And if someone at the next table recommends a special — order it.
